Hotel Sarahan Holiday Inn is situated in a small village named Gharat. The meaning of Gharat is a type of traditionally used hydraulic machine (water mill) which is used for grinding wheat etc. Here in olden times 20 to 25 gharats were in existence, now the trend of gharats has been reduced. The village is one of the most beautiful and picturesque places in Rampur district. Sarahan is located at a distance of about 5 k.m. from the hotel, it can also be accessible on foot in 15 minutes by the village track.

Sarahan is situated at a distance of about 35 kms from Rampur and 160 kms from Shimla. The village is known as "Gateway to Kinnaur". In ancient times, it was the summer capital of the rulers of the former Bushehr Kingdom. What really puts the village on the map is the famous Bhimakali Temple, dedicated to Goddess Bhimakali, and one of the 51 Shaktipeeths.
